Educated at St Marylebone Central School.
Began as a professional actor at the Oldham Repertory Theatre in 1954.
Attended RADA.
Performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Performed with the National Theatre.
Performed at the Royal Court Theatre.
Was nominated for Broadway's 1975 Tony Award as Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Dramatic) for "Sherlock Holmes".
