Biography
Yelubai (Yeleubai) Umurzakov
Born on January 31, 1899
People’s Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1931).
Since 1919, he began participating in performances of the amateur troupe “Red Caravan.”
From 1920 to 1923, he worked in the police in Kustanai while continuing to take part in performances and theater life.
In 1923, E. Umurzakov entered the Kazakh Institute of National Education “Kino.”
Since 1925, Umurzakov was a member of the Central Club of the All-Russian Youth Union of the Kazakh SSR, organized in Orenburg.
From 1925, he became an actor of the Kazakh Academic Drama Theater named after M. Auezov.
He appeared in films starting from 1938 (his first role was Amangeldy Imanov in the film “Amangeldy”).
He passed away on April 2, 1974, in Alma-Ata.
